Some good news for a friend of mine from Belfast, Fr Gregory Collins, OSB, who's been elected Abbot of the
Monastery of the Dormition in Jerusalem. It's a German foundation and he's the first English speaker elected to the eight year office.
It will be good training for when he is made an Irish bishop or archbishop, please God.
To plug his books a little, he's the author of
Meeting Christ in His Mysteries, which "contemplates the sacramental mysteries of Scripture, Baptism, the Eucharist, the icon, mystical prayer and the great feasts of the liturgical year, viewing them as privileged 'disclosure-zones' where the Holy Spirit reveals God's presence and invites us to be transformed into the likeness of Christ."
Also the popular
Glenstal Book of Icons and a book written for priests and other ministers,
Come and Receive Light.
