So reports are published today of reviews which were carried out by the National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church (NBSCCC), covering Derry diocese, Dromore, Kilmore, Ardagh and Clonmacnois, Tuam and Raphoe.
Needless to say the headlines will not be based on the fact that most reviews were positive but on the negative comments about Raphoe.
You can read them here:
Raphoe,
Derry,
Dromore,
Kilmore,
Ardagh and Clonmacnoise,
Tuam.
The RTE spin seems to be on the low number of convictions - not pointing to innocence but on some failure to prosecute.
Now my curiosity is this - the diocese of Down and Connor recently
published a report which emerged somewhat under the radar of the media. What I'm wondering is why this review was not carried out by the NBSCCC but by was conducted by "Marion Reynolds MBE, BSc, Dip Soc Work, CQSW, Cert Adv Soc Work, an Independent Social Worker with 38 years’ experience of working at practitioner, management, policy and commissioning grades within Health and Personnel Social Services at Trust, Board and Departmental levels; and Dr John Devaney BA, MSc, PhD, CQSW, PQ Award, Advanced Award, a Social Work academic with 23 years’ experience at practitioner, management and commissioning levels."
As I say, just curious.
