I take back everything I said about Patsy Mc Garry - I was much too kind to him before - he's actually much worse than I thought possible. 

I cannot speak to his motivations - but his behaviour is that of someone who detests the Church and is determined to do as much harm as he possibly can.  Where there is no news he simply regurgitates old rumour.  So today in the Irish Times he's repeating the suggestion that Archbishop John Charles Mc Quaid was a child molester, repeating the line from John Cooney, who was repeating a line from the odious Noel Browne.  Cooney's version was questioned on publication by a number of serious historians.

There is clearly no child protection issue to justify attacking someone who's been dead for nearly forty years.
