Count me out

I came upon this website today. It's for people who want to leave the Catholic Church and offers forms to renounce your membership, a detailed FAQ, and sample replies received from some dioceses. Personally I think it's excellent and the more people who take the trouble to defect formally the better.
What's amusing in the FAQ of course are questions like "will I still be able to have my children baptized?"; "can I be a godparent?" and "do my parents have to find out?".
I emailed the owner who is from Dundalk offering some comments, including pointing out that education is not delegated to the Church by the State but is part of basic freedoms. I also suggested he put something on about canonical form and the fact that merely lapsed Catholics will not have valid marriages in registry offices whereas those who formally defect will have valid marriages. I was pleasently surprised to get a quick response:

Thanks for your email!
I accept the points you make about the sentence "Ireland delegates ... ". We've been so bowled over by the attention we received last week that we haven't had time to step back and review the text of the FAQ. Therefore I'll be making a major update this week to clarify points such as that.
Regarding questions such as "can I still have my children baptized", etc. these aren't questions we've made up, but genuinely represent the majority of queries we've received! They might seem comical enough, but they illustrate the huge social influence of the church in Irish society, such that people have difficultly conceiving of a life without the various church rituals. In that sense, such questions are interesting and instructive.
I do not believe that the Church is trying to artificially inflate its numbers - I made this point in a number of radio interviews, stating that the site might help the church clear out the dead wood, as it were. However, I've noted this comment and will add a question to the FAQ. Moreover I've noted your observation on marriage and will find a way to add that too.
Thanks again for your email - I genuinely appreciate the feedback!
