The Archbishop of Dublin is not particularly noted as a teacher. But some people are learning from him. Last week I noted his efforts at establishing CORI as what I called a "bad church" to deal with the toxic debt of child abuse. In tomorrow's The Irish Catholic, CORI will be doing the same with the eighteen religious orders involved in the Ryan Report. In turn David Quinn has noted that of the eighteen orders mentioned in the report, some are far "guiltier" than others. I suspect as things progress the Christian Brothers and the Sisters of Mercy will serve as the bad church for everyone. Then they can liquidate their assets and their surviving members move to Africa.
As one person has pointed out, it will be ironic if Mercy Ireland ends up having to sell all their semi-Ds around Ireland and the sisters end up living in community in a large convent again.
