Of books and bananas and teeth

Okay so yesterday I did a long post on books I'm reading. I like to do this from time to time. I carry a rucksack to work everyday which often has about ten books that I'm sort of reading in it. Anyway, having completed the long post, including a nice quote from one of the books, I went to a different window to find a few links. Only the window wasn't opened at full screen and I accidently googled from my blog. The result being that I lost the posting. Boo hoo, as Patrick would say.
Speaking of sayings, dinner in our house is a long struggle of people trying to find interesting things to say. I don't mean they struggle to find things to say - the struggle belongs to the parents having to listen. Patrick likes to tell stories from school, about matches won, goals scored or what he did at show and tell. Michael likes to take what Patrick said and either act it out loudly at the table or "imagine if you scored a hundred goals or a million goals" - this sort of thing that can go off in all sorts of directions. In the midst of this, Mary struggles to find a conversational gambit. Yesterday, in a moment of silence, she said "Don't bananas not have electricity". I looked blankly for a moment before Michael began explaining that everything has electricity. Mary said they didn't and then began to cry. Who knew such thoughts occupied the mind of a three year old, or that she would care enough to cry.
Patrick's front tooth fell out yesterday - two days after Michael thumped it with his back during some rough and tumble. The tooth was put in an envelope to help the tooth fairy find it. But somehow during the night the tooth escaped through a hole in the window of the envelope so all Patrick got was a note saying "couldn't find the tooth - The Tooth Fairy". Luckily Patrick managed to find it this morning.
